Privacy Policy
What Steward collects, why, who sees it, and how to get it removed.
Two kinds of people
Business owners create an account with SVLabs. Callers are the people who phone or text a business that uses Steward. For callers’ information the business is in charge and we act on its instructions; if you called a business and have a question about your information, the business is the right first contact, and we will help them answer it.
What we collect
- From business owners: email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash), business name, website, the business information and prices you approve, your alert phone number and email, and the phone you test from.
- From your public website: the pages we read to set up your account.
- From callers: their phone number, what they said (recordings and transcripts), and details they chose to give — such as name, address, and what they need — plus any appointment made.
- From your own calendar, if you connect it: only the times you are busy. We do not store event titles, descriptions, locations or attendees.
- Automatically: basic technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
What we use it for
To answer calls and messages for the business, book appointments, tell the owner what happened, keep the service secure, fix problems, and improve how Steward works. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use callers’ information for advertising.
Who processes it for us
We use service providers to run Steward: a voice provider (call handling, speech recognition, recording), an AI model provider (understanding and wording replies), a telephone and messaging carrier, an email delivery provider, a database and hosting provider, and — if you subscribe — a payment processor, which handles your card details; we never see them. Each receives only what it needs to do its part.
Call recording
Every call begins with Steward saying it is an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded. Recordings and transcripts are visible to the business that was called and to our staff when needed to operate or fix the service. See the recording section of the Terms.
How long we keep it
Conversations, recordings and bookings are kept while the business’s account is open so the owner can review them, and deleted within 30 days of the account closing unless the law requires otherwise. A business can ask us to delete a specific caller’s information sooner.
Your choices
- Owners can correct their information in the app, disconnect their calendar, pause the service, and ask us to export or delete their data.
- Callers can ask the business they called — or us — to access or delete their information, and can ask to speak to a person instead of the assistant at any time during a conversation.
- California residents have rights to know, delete and correct personal information and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.
Security
Passwords and session tokens are stored only as hashes, access to each business’s data is limited to that business’s account, connections are encrypted, and requests from our providers are cryptographically verified. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your information we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
Steward is a business tool and is not directed at children.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters we will tell account holders by email. Questions and requests: legal@mail.svlabs.dev
